Pucklechurch Players
| Welcome to the Pucklechurch Players website. We are an amateur dramatics group based in the village of Pucklechurch, South Gloucestershire. The Group was started in 1982.  Who are we? We are a welcoming, sociable group based in our beautiful village and we welcome members from within and outside the village. We even have 2 members from Yate! We are not luvvies and we don't take ourselves too seriously. Fortunately, neither do our audiences! Our activities: We meet every Thursday evening some time between 8.00 and 8.22. Once we have dragged Karl and Martin down from the Social Club things get going. Our aim is to stage 2 productions each year, normally in May and November on a Friday and Saturday evening. We put on a pantomime every two years and it runs for 4 performances. Our productions and our weekly meetings take place in the Pucklechurch Community Centre. One of our challenges when mounting a production is to erect a stage, complete with proscenium arch for the panto. The acting members are also involved in stage construction, scenery making and costume design and creation. We are grateful to be able to enlist the help of our family members when they are willing to help backstage and in front of house during the week of the production.  Our rave reviews: Although we're a small group, we have a very good reputation and we strive to maintain this with consistently excellent performances. We have a very appreciative audience, some of whom travel great distances to see our productions. You can see what they have said about us on the Rave Reviews page on this website. Socialising: We enjoy socialising together and this is not limited to heading for the Club for a drink after our Thursday rehearsals. Have a look at our social events page. We should point out that we are particularly interested in men and, if you have a hankering to perform, you may get away with not being able to act if you are male. If female, however, you will need to pass 3 auditions with a rigorous panel!!! You may be interested in helping backstage or with sound, lighting, costumes, publicity or front-of-house. If so, we would be very pleased to hear from you. |
